Experiences on Odense River
Odense Aafart is a very popular attraction for school classes. With experiences on Odense River, you can let your students experience a unique and beautiful boat trip with Odense Aafart. Since 1882, we have sailed in the city of adventure on the Odense River.
Hop on board and experience a scenic cruise that takes you along the gardens of Odense’s beautiful old neighborhoods, past Odense Zoo and out to the beech forest of Fruens Bøge. The tour can be combined with a visit to the Funen Village or Odense Zoo.
Prices apply to daycare, kindergarten, SFO, and primary/secondary schools.
Note: If a class is accompanied by parents, the parents must pay the normal price.
Historical narrative on board
If you are a larger group, we can offer a story about the history of Odense Aafart and the time around 1882, where it all started, on board the tour boat. The story will be played on the boat’s speakers and will not cost extra.

Odense Aafart has sailed on the Odense River for over 130 years and has for generations communicated the city’s history and nature to both locals and visitors.
Is it a regular sailing trip?
Notes. Schools and institutions book as a group and get a total solution that is planned in dialog with Aafarten.
Is the sailing trip relevant as part of the training?
What it is. The voyage can provide insight into nature, urban development and Odense’s history and can therefore support teaching in subjects such as nature/technology, history and social studies.
Is the offer only for schools?
Answer. The offer applies to primary schools, private schools, continuation schools, secondary schools, daycare centers and other institutions.

Where does the sailing take place?
The cruise takes place on Odense River, departing from Munke Mose and sailing towards Fruens Bøge.
Can the route be customized?
For private bookings, we can customize the duration and focus to suit your program.
Can you get off on the way?
No, but any special requests must be agreed in advance.
Can you combine the boat trip with a visit to the ZOO or Funen Village?
Yes, you can. The cruise can be combined with other experiences in the area, such as the ZOO or Funen Village, to make it a complete day out.

The duration depends on the chosen solution and is scheduled at the time of booking.

How do you book as a school or institution?
To book, send an inquiry to Odense Aafart with the desired date, number of participants and grade/age group.
When is it necessary to buy in advance?
Sailing trips for schools and institutions require advance booking. It is recommended to book well in advance – especially in high season.
Practical information on board
Is the boat trip safe for children?
Safety is a priority. Safety is a high priority and staff instruct the group before departure.
Do adults need to be present?
Yes. The institution is responsible for ensuring a sufficient number of accompanying adults during the trip.
Can students bring packed lunches?
Food and drinks can be brought along by prior arrangement when booking.
Can I bring dogs?
For private tours, this is agreed individually when booking.
Is there a toilet on board?
There is no toilet on board the tour boats. We recommend that you use the restrooms before departure.
Can I get on the tour boat with a wheelchair?
Only manual wheelchairs can enter the tour boat. There are two steps down into the boats. There are no ramps, so it takes a pair of hands to help you down the two steps and into the boat. Then we carry the chair down afterwards.
Rollators can be brought along.
Can I bring a stroller?
For a private tour, strollers can be brought along by appointment.
Can you smoke on board the tour boats?
Generally no, unless otherwise agreed for private tours.
Does Odense Aafart sail in all weathers?
Yes, Odense Aafart sails in all kinds of weather. The boats are covered and we sail on the Odense River on a stretch that is well protected from wind and weather.
