Safety and practical information for canoe rental

When you go canoeing, thorough preparation ensures a safe and enjoyable experience on the water. On this page, you’ll find important information about safety, equipment, and practical matters that will help you get off to a good start and guide you throughout your trip.

We recommend that you read this page carefully before setting out. Once you’re familiar with the guidelines and know how to behave on the water, you can focus on nature, the tranquility, and the company of others along the way.

Basic sailing rules

Public boating regulations apply to navigation on the Odense River and are in effect only during specific periods, depending on which section of the river you wish to navigate:

  • Rowing boats, canoes, and kayaksare permitted year-round on the stretch from Erik Bøghs Sti in Fruens Bøge to the mouth of the river at Seden Strand.
  • From June 1 through April 1, rowing boats, canoes, and kayaks are permitted on the stretch from Brogårdsvej in Bellinge to Erik Bøghs Sti in Fruens Bøge.
  • From November 1 to April 1, rowing boats, canoes, and kayaks may be used on the stretch from Nr. Broby to Brogårdsvej (winter boating).

No music at Munke Mose

When you drop off your canoes at Munke Mose, it is important that you consider the residents who live next to our workshop. Therefore, please make sure to keep good order. It is not allowed to play music here, neither when picking up canoes nor when dropping off canoes.

Liability and insurance

You always paddle at your own risk. As a paddler, you are responsible for the canoe, your equipment, and your conduct on the water. You must be considerate of nature, other paddlers, and your surroundings throughout the entire trip.

You are liable for any damage to the canoe, equipment, the environment, or other persons resulting from irresponsible or improper paddling. We recommend that you ensure your personal insurance covers any damage that may occur while canoeing.
