How to rent a water bike
- To rent a pedal boat, you must present a valid ID (driver’s license or passport – if you are under 18, health insurance is ok) at the kiosk when you pay for the first hour of rental. It is a requirement for the rental that valid identification is presented.
- There is a maximum of four adults and one small child (max 3 years) (or max 300 kg) in a pedal boat. If you have more than 4 people (or more than 300 kg), you need to rent a second pedal boat. Both requirements must be met. You can’t take 5 people even if you weigh less than 300 kg.
- If you sail longer than 1 hour, you pay for the extra time when you pick up your ID at the kiosk after the tour.For online bookings where you book and pay for the desired duration in advance, the water bike must be returned on time. If the water bike is not returned on time, you will be charged double the rental price per 15 minutes to ensure that the next renter can leave on time.
- It’s a good idea to do the toilet visits and coffee purchases before you rent the pedal boats, as your time starts as soon as you’ve paid.
- We have no life jackets
Practical info
- All sailing is at your own risk.
- Keep an eye on where you’re sailing, as you’ll need to free yourself if you get stuck in shallow water, low-hanging branches or anything else.
- If there is one or more persons under the age of 13 in the boat, there must be at least one person over the age of 18 in the boat as well.
Please sail with consideration and always give way to the tour boats as they cannot leave the channel. - The water bikes must be returned to the same place they were delivered (Filosofgangen 30B).
- We do not store personal belongings – these must be brought on the water bike.
- We reserve the right to refuse rentals to visibly intoxicated or under the influence persons.
- It is not allowed to bring a speaker.

How does the pedal boat rental work?
When you arrive at Odense Aafart, hand in your valid ID at the kiosk and pay for the first hour’s rental. If you have booked online, you pay in advance and the time starts when you receive the water bike.
How do I book a water bike in advance?
You can book your pedal boat online via our booking system to make sure you get one at the time you want.
What should I bring to the rental?
Bring a valid ID (driver’s license or passport; under the age of 18, health insurance cards are also ok) and anything else you want to bring on the trip. Remember that you need to bring things like drinks or life jackets if you wish.
We recommend that you bring a small pillow/blanket to sit on.
Is it hard to ride a pedal boat?
No – pedal boats have pontoons and pedals, so they are very stable and don’t require special skills.
How many people can be on a pedal boat?
A maximum of four adults and one small child (up to about 3 years old) or a maximum of 300 kg in a water bike. If you are more people or weigh more, you need to rent more pedalos.
If you exceed the weight limit, the pedalos will take in water.
How long can I ride a pedal boat?
The rental is typically per hour and the sailing trip must start no later than one hour before the ticket office closes. If you sail longer than the paid time, extra time will be charged at drop-off.
Are pedal boats suitable for children?
Yes. Children can participate with adults. If there are children under the age of 13, at least one adult must be on the same water bike.
Do you need experience to use a pedal boat?
The answer is no. Pedal boats are stable and easy to use. Everyone can join in, even if you’ve never tried it before.
Are there any age requirements?
If there are people under the age of 13 in the water bike, at least one adult (over the age of 18) must be in the same bike.
Are dogs allowed on a pedal boat?
Yes, if you think it will be safe to ride a water bike.
Can we bring speakers on board?
Speakers are not allowed in the pedal boats, as music is not allowed on board. If you have brought a speaker, it must be stored in the kiosk while you are sailing.
Can we have our luggage stored while riding a pedal boat?
Unfortunately, we are not able to store bags or other luggage while you are on a pedal boat. These must be brought on board.
Can we borrow life jackets?
The pedal boats are exempt from life jackets, so if you need life jackets, you must bring them yourself.
What is a water bike?
A pedal boat is a human-powered boat with pedals that allows you to ‘cycle’ on water. It is stable and easy to use for beginners.
Can I bring my own drinks and food to enjoy while pedal boating?
Yes, you can do that. Make sure to take your trash with you before you leave the water bike.
Can we store the stroller/pushchair while sailing?
Yes, but you need to have bought a ticket to Odense ZOO. You can also get on at ZOO and pay for the boat trip to the skipper or hop off at Munke Mose and pay at our kiosk. Please note that you are not allowed to bring dogs into the Zoo.
Can you smoke on the pedal boat?
Yes, you can, as long as you don’t throw cigarette codes in the river or water bike.
Is there a student or pensioner discount?
There is a 10% student discount on pedal boat rental. A valid student ID must be presented.
Where can you park your car?

Take the free Citybus, which stops almost at the door. Get off at Søndergade/Vestergade or Holsdore. The bus runs approximately every 10 minutes: Monday-Friday 9-16.30 and Saturday 11-15.30.
During festivals and major events e.g. in August and September there may be alternative routes, so check the timetable here
